New Media & Policy: Canada in Global Context

Join a 12 week, McLuhan - inspired, think tank on designing policies and knowledge media to support e-democracy and citizen engagement in the coming era of e-governance.In search of evidence based policy-making:

• How are new media affecting relationships among government, private and civil society sectors?
• What can theory and case studies reveal about the policies required to develop a sustainable knowledge culture within a network society?
• What policy options are appropriate, locally and globally, under digital conditions? How should Canada adapt to the hyper interdependence of McLuhan's 7/24 global village?
• What is the significance of the (invisible) World Summit on the Information Society (http://wsis.ecommons.ca)?
• How can citizen input have impact? Reviewing the Foreign Policy Dialogue (http://www.foreign-policy-dialogue.ca) and other e-consultations.
• Agenda setting and the role of "the media" in the Information Society?
• Hactivism, public diplomacy and more . . .
